Tết - Chinese New Year Vietnam

Vietnamese New Year, more commonly known by its shortened name Tết or "Tết Nguyên Đán", is the most important and popular holiday and festival in Vietnam. It is the Vietnamese New Year marking the arrival of spring based on the Chinese calendar, a lunisolar calendar. The name Vietnam New Year is Sino-Vietnamese for Feast of the First Morning, derived from the Hán nôm characters 節 元 旦.Tết is celebrated on the same day as Chinese New Year, though exceptions arise due to the one-hour time difference between Hanoi and Beijing resulting in the alternate calculation of the new moon. It takes place from the first day of the first month of the Lunar calendar (around late January or early February) until at least the third day. Many Vietnamese prepare for Tết by cooking special holiday foods and cleaning the house. There are a lot of customs practiced during Tết, such as visiting a person's house on the first day of the new year (xông nhà), ancestral worshipping, wishing New Year's greetings, giving lucky money to children and elderly people, and opening a shop.
Tết is also an occasion for pilgrims and family reunions. During Tết, Vietnamese visit their relatives and temples, forgetting about the troubles of the past year and hoping for a better upcoming year. They consider Tết to be the first day of spring and the festival is often called Hội xuân (spring festival).

  • Introduction

The Pandanus is the largest and most beautiful resort in Phan Thiet province.

Built in 2004 within a ten hectare lush tropical garden on a three hundred meter long private beach, the Pandanus Resort has a large range of facilities and a variety of different accommodations, all designed to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable.

Adjacent to the beach is a huge free-form pool, surrounding an island covered with palm trees. The buildings are designed to complement, not compete with the natural surroundings. The beach is serene and disturbed only by an occasional fisherman in a round pitch basket, or a wind and kite surfer.

Our international management team and our local staff know how to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Welcome smiles greet you from the minute you enter the grounds. Professional masseuses offer foot and body massages on the beach, around the pool, or in our luxurious spa.

aiters and waitresses bring your meals to you while you relax under beachfront parasols. Local Cham musicians perform soothing music while you dine.

    Accommodation

The Pandanus Resort offers four types of accommodations. Superior rooms are located in two and three storey buildings throughout the resort.

Most Superior rooms have private furnished balconies. Junior Suites and Family Suites are also located in the two and three storey buildings. Junior Suites have bath or shower combinations, while all other rooms, Suites and Bungalows offer standing shower.

All suites have furnished balconies. The one-storey private Bungalows are scattered throughout the gardens and are the closest accommodations to the beach and pool area.

A beachfront American-style barbecue with hamburgers, hot dogs and barbecued meats is offered regularly in the evening. For those who just want a drink after a hard day of swimming and lying around the beach, our open-air "Waterfall Lounge" has a full bar, billards tables and plenty of overstuffed chairs.

A flood-lit tennis court is located in the garden, allowing the maximun amount of privacy. Tennis balls and racquets are available at the gift shop.

Adjoining the largest swimming pool in Mui Ne is a Jacuzzi bath, large enough to accommodate more than a dozen guests at one time. Wind-surfing and kite surfing lessons are provided on the beach.

A fully-equipped fitness center, a massage and spa, a games room, a children's play area, two karaoke rooms and a discotheque are all located below "Café Blue Lagoon". The spa offers a wide range of rejuvenating and restorative treatments, including traditional massages, facials, pedicures, manicures, mud and seaweed wraps, and aromatherapy. Sauna and steam rooms are located in the locker room next to the spa.

Adjacent to the front desk is our business center with computer stations, printers and internet access. Spa

"Indulge yourself at the Pandanus Resort's Peony Spa, a haven for relaxation and body wellness in a tranquil atmosphere. The spa provides various body treatments, massages and salon services to rejuvenate your body and soul."

    Location

The Pandanus is the closest resort to the famous "red" sand dunes and canyon of Mui Ne. The salmon-colored dunes are a ten minute hike up a small hill above the resort, and the canyons may be reached by walking north one kilometer on the beach.

The resort is on the northern side of the picturesque fishing village of Mui Ne towards the tiny village of Ap Thien Ai and separated from the myriad of small resorts and guest houses that line the beach south of Mui Ne towards the city of Phan Thiet.

The Mui Ne area records the least amount of rainfall of any area of Vietnam, so even when it rains daily during July and August in Ho Chi Minh City, just four and a half hour drive from Phan Thiet, it seldom rains in Mui Ne.
