  Excursions:

  Ninh Binh was Vietnam's ancient capital, also known as Hoa Lu. The eighth century dynasty of King Le Dai Hanh was credited with building many palaces and made the royal capita very beautiful. In 1010, King Ly Thai moved the royal capital a short distance to Thang Long. Nowadays, visitors can see two temples around 500 metres apart - one in dedication to King Dinh Tien Hoang and the other to King Le Dai Hanh. On the tenth day of the lunar month, pilgrims come to Hoa Lu to pay tribute to Kings Dinh and Le.
